Debbie Pritchett announces candidacy for Mount Vernon Board of Education

Hello,
I am Deborah Pritchett and I am a candidate for the Mount Vernon Board of Education. I  have been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1968. My family, my community and our sons’ education have always been priorities in my life.

I have always taken pride in the Mt. Vernon Public School system; always believing that our system is capable of producing lifelong learners and constructive contributors to our community. My husband Warren and I entrusted our sons’ education to the Mount Vernon School system. We are taxpayers and have always participated in community affairs related to the overall success of children.

I am proud to say our sons Brian and Jason are educators here in Mount Vernon.
As a family we believe very strongly in the idea of “Giving Back.” It is apparent that
education and community service is a strong belief in my family values.

I am aware of the struggles OUR children are facing today and I know with my expertise as a parent, business woman, and productive member of our community, I will definitely be an asset to the Mount Vernon Board of Education. I will NOT shy away from controversy or difficult situations. I will take a firm stance on issues that are definite and valuable to our citizens. We are faced with hard economic times, but that should not stop us from giving OUR children what is needed to excel in their studies and development. I certainly haven’t given up and I know that with new ideas and new synergy the possibilities are endless.

That being said, I am proud to announce my candidacy for School Board Trustee for the City of Mount Vernon, NY. Please TRUST and CONSIDER supporting me during my campaign. I look forward to serving our great community and “Giving Back”. Education is the key to the success of OUR children. Children are FIRST, children are SECOND and children are THIRD. There is no room for compromise.

Regards,

Deborah Pritchett

                            VOTE TUESDAY! MAY 19, 2009

To provide an opportunity for MT. VERNON residents to receive a quality education in a SAFE, supportive and effective learning environment equipped with all the tools necessary to succeed.

To establish and maintain PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY through a restless pursuit of answers and solutions. In my mind, every question deserves an answer and every problem has a solution.

To establish and maintain constructive, effective communication with parents, students, staff and community members regarding the wise use of our financial resources; insuring that our finances are being used responsibly for qualified staff as well as for the maintenance of our educational facilities.

To maintain, recruit and educate qualified staff with emphasis on including those who have been educated in our school system and are now QUALIFIED and EAGER to “Give Back”.

To restore some sense of order and respectability at our school board
meetings.

Children are FIRST, Children are SECOND and Children are THIRD……..
