Ludington Adult Day Registrants Welcome Assemblyman George Latimer

Recently, Ludington Adult Day Registrants learned from Assemblyman George Latimer about “unclaimed funds” being administered by the State of New York .  In order to gain insight into what his constituency considers important, Assemblyman Latimer frequently interacts with those he serves – and that includes visits with the folks at Ludington, who are long-time friends of this 91st District representative.  Assemblyman Latimer usually stops by monthly to solicit their input as well as keep these engaged seniors informed about State legislation that may affect them or their Adult Day Program.

Recognizing the difficulties faced by individuals living on fixed incomes, this compassionate Assemblyman spoke to the Registrants about “unclaimed funds” held by New York State .  He explained the Comptroller’s role as custodian of inactive accounts from banks, insurance companies, utilities, and many other businesses.  Then he offered to work with anyone interested in searching the State database.  For over an hour, Assemblyman Latimer assisted individuals to research their name for possible monies.   George Latimer ’s information and help resulted in at least one surprised Registrant.  She discovered “long forgotten” money and was pleased that Mr. Latimer not only assisted her in locating the funds, but also worked with her on the necessary paperwork to claim it.

Commenting on his recent visit, Assemblyman George Latimer said, “The Unclaimed Funds Session is one more example of the team at Ludington Adult Day Care and Sound Shore Medical Center working to help the members of their extended “family” of registrants.”  He concluded, “I’m pleased to be a part of that effort by heading this event”.

Assemblyman Latimer encourages everyone to explore the State site, www.osc.state.ny.us , and the topic unclaimed funds.  Inquiries can be made to the Office of the State Comptroller, Office of Unclaimed Funds, 110 State Street , Albany , NY 12236 or by calling 1-800-221-9311.  As soon as proof of entitlement is confirmed, the funds are paid out in full.  There is no fee for the service. Who knows... some of the billions being held by New York State may be yours.

Ludington’s Adult Day Services Program is a medical model that provides comprehensive medical, therapeutic and rehabilitation treatment.  This allows rest for caregivers and allows seniors and individuals with chronic conditions, who need some medical support – but not around the clock – to remain in their home setting while receiving daytime support.
