Heineken USA’s Heineken with a Heart
Benefits Food Bank for Westchester
The Food Bank for
Westchester recently received more than $13,000
in donations from business leaders, local
personalities and neighbors through the Heineken
with a Heart fundraiser, which took place at the
Ritz Carlton Westchester. All proceeds will
benefit the Food Bank in its mission to lead,
engage and educate Westchester County in
creating a hunger-free environment.
More than 200
people attended the event, at which they were
entertained by the Raging Jews of Comedy, who
have appeared on Late Show with David Letterman,
Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show
with Jay Leno, and Comedy Central, among others;
and Heineken’s in-house band, One Dam Good
Band.
“Skipping meals
should not be a necessity,” said Christina
Rohatynskyj, Executive Director of the Food
Bank. “We are so grateful to Heineken for
choosing us as the beneficiary of their
fundraising efforts. More than 200,000 people in
Westchester are hungry or at risk of becoming
hungry, and we are reliant on the generosity of
our corporate friends to help us in our efforts
to alleviate hunger here.”
Heineken USA
supports local non-profit organizations and
charities through its Heineken with a Heart
initiative. In today’s economy, non-profits of
all types have been challenged to maintain their
funding while continuing to provide support and
services for their local communities and
constituents.
“In business, we
talk a lot about hunger – the hunger and the
drive to move our business forward and create
the results we’re looking for on a daily basis,”
said Don Blaustein, president and chief
executive officer, Heineken USA. “Too often we
talk about hunger without really thinking about
those who are truly hungry in the community.
This event and the funds raised for the Food
Bank for Westchester reminds us all that we have
an opportunity to help one another so that we
can live in a better tomorrow. This success of
this event reinforces and reassures us all that
our corporate hometown is in good hands.”
In addition to
monetary donations, the event also collected a
truckload of cereal from guests in attendance.
The Food Bank for
Westchester, one of eight food banks in New York
State, acquires, warehouses and distributes food
to 200 Westchester County hunger relief
organizations, including food pantries and soup
kitchens, among others. These efforts feed some
or all of the 200,000 people in Westchester who
are hungry or at risk of hunger. The Food Bank
mission is supported by an extensive donor and
volunteer network.
The Food Bank for
Westchester is located at 358 Saw Mill River
Road, Millwood, NY 10546. For more information,

Heineken with a
Heart is part of HUSA Cares, a larger Heineken
USA initiative that fosters a culture of giving
back by identifying and activating ways to make
a positive difference individually and
collectively through volunteering and donations
to non-profits. In addition to Heineken with a
Heart, the company also stages days of giving
throughout the year, ranging from volunteering
at an HIV/AIDS service center and numerous food
pantries to revitalizing nursing homes and local
parks. To date, this program has raised more
than $600,000 for local charities.
