New York State FBLA State Officers GET
MOTIVATED!
Sixteen members
of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
New York State Officer Team attended the action
packed, high charged, motivational business
seminar appropriately named, GET MOTIVAED on
July 21, 2009. One of the teenagers on the team
was Imani Lawrence, a senior at Mount Vernon
High School, and FBLA New York State Reporter.
During their annual FBLA State Officer Training,
these young adults traveled from Greenwich, NY
to Albany to experience this inspirational
seminar. A once in a lifetime opportunity for
the officer team, the officers donned their
white Polo t-shirts embroidered with the FBLA
logo, and excitedly clambered into the vans and
embarked on their trip to Albany.
GET MOTIVATED is an all day event filled with
motivational speakers, businessmen, and other
awe-inspiring guests. Many influential guests
graced the main stage. The main speakers were
Zig Ziglar, Steve Forbes, President and CEO of
Forbes Magazine, Tamara Lowe, author of the New
York Times bestselling book Get Motivated, Dr.
Earl Mindell, author of the bestselling book The
Vitamin Bible, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and General
Colin Powel. Some of the topics discussed
included:
-
Motivating
yourself (“motivational DNA”)
-
How to
Balance Your Personal and Professional
Priorities
-
Strategies
that Thriving Corporations Use to Stay Ahead
of the Pack
-
How to
Harness the Power of Encouragement
-
6 “KNOWS” to
Get the “YES”
The seminar combined the ideas of business and
motivational speaking to create one super
charged event. As a group of young adults, the
officer team was greatly influenced by the days’
events. The team laughed, cheered, and enjoyed
the eventful day. They gained a new found
appreciation for business and its procedures.
They learned new methods on how to interact with
various types of people.
The state officers left the seminar that afternoon with
newly acquired knowledge that will forever
remain with them in their future endeavors.
