About Us

History:  The Mount Vernon Inquirer was founded on a shoe string budget in the latter part of 2004 by Joe Parisi and his wife, Luisa.  The inaugural issue was the February 2005 issue, which consisted of 20 pages. The newspaper became an overnight success and quickly grew to forty (40) pages within six months.

Why has The Inquirer been such a big success? It has been a success because it is known as the ‘people’s newspaper' and is basically the only real source of community news for nearly 100,000 people in the City of Mount Vernon, including surrounding communities – since the paper is also distributed in nearby Pelham and parts of New Rochelle and Bronxville.

Throughout the years, the citizens of Mount Vernon have developed a wonderful relationship with the staff of the paper – sending us a variety of community news for publication. In addition, our reporters have covered all important community events that take place within the city on a 24-7 basis. We are also known as the ‘good news paper,’ since all our coverage is strictly positive.

Current Operational Plan: The Inquirer was obligated to shut down on a temporary basis after the publication of the September 2008 edition due to economic reasons, but was re-launched with the February 2009 edition.  Shutting down the paper enabled Joe Parisi and his wife to restructure the company and create a new media group concept. Encompassing our media group will be the Joe Parisi Show on Mount Vernon cable television; the Joe Parisi Shoe on WVOX 1460 AM; an exciting new interactive website and the newly updated Inquirer newspaper.

The most important addition has been the influx of youthful talent in all facets of our media group's business model. Now, the addition of youthful partners in both the content and business side of the media group will ensure a long and fruitful relationship and a very successful communications enterprise.

The Inquirer Media Group will be utilizing the same staff that has been with the paper for almost four years, and will include the addition of Art Crawford and Bob Nurse, who will be responsible for marketing.

The Inquirer will retain its name, but we will also be doing business as The Inquirer Media Group, since we will be reaching out to the public using various communication tools.
