Introduction to Backpacking
To celebrate
National Trails Day we’re taking to the trails and leaving
civilization behind to experience the Hudson Hills and
Highlands by really getting outdoors. The basics of
backpacking; gear, food, clothing, and the ethics of no
trace camping will be discussed in a “pre-game” program.
Then put it all together on a shake-down hike to a shelter
in Harriman State Park, where we’ll set up camp, enjoy
dinner and then hike out the next day. All participants must
bring their own equipment. Fee: $25/person does not include
food or transportation. Maximum 10 people, adults and
children over 12 only. Children must be accompanied by an
adult.
